“You are moving awfully slow this morning.” Martina points out. “Again.” I grimace because she is right. Over the past three days since Nico and I have made it official, there is not a night when he isn’t between my legs reminding me, I made a commitment to him and can’t change my mind. Not that I want to. It is not something I would say to anyone, not even him right now, but I am in love with him, and I am no longer denying it. The problem is, there is still so much I don’t know.

“Shut up Tina.” Iseppa walks in right then and I stand holding in the hiss that is at the tip of my tongue.

“Is everything set?” She asks, grabbing a drink from the fridge.

“Yes. Z should be coming in soon with the specs.” Seconds later Z actually walks in with blueprints.

“Z how’s is your mom and the twins?” She has a little brother and little sister who are twins. Her mom has not been well since her father was killed with mine and as a result she has fallen into a depression. The nanny is basically left to raise the children. Z goes by every day to check on everything.

“The same.” She says clenching her jaw. I know she doesn’t like to talk about it, so I change the subject.

“Alright. Let’s get started.” We are preparing to go in and get the little boy who is suspected of being my little brother. Z is my recon person. She did an overnight mission, night vision goggles and all, which also have heat seeking capabilities. She was able to determine they keep five people, maybe six total on the ground plus the little boy. She found 4 entryways, three of which we are going to zip tie and bolt closed before we go in.

Plans discussed; we all start gearing up. “Are you sure you can move fast enough?” Tina asks, grinning. Haha. She is so funny. Not. Especially since I was literally just thinking that.

“Are we missing something?” Iseppa asks, putting on her vest.

“Our fierce leader over here has found herself in a few compromising positions with a certain federal agent.”

“Hot damn.” Z says, whistling and laughing. I shake my head giving them a minute for some lightness before we go into full on dark mode.

“Alright. Alright. Enough.” I say. They quiet down immediately. “You all know why we are doing this. I would like to take someone alive, but it is not a must. The only thing we have to do is get the little boy out. Got it?”

“Got it.”

“Who is going to be on the sniper scope?”

“That would be me.” Z says stepping up. I am not surprised. Although all of us have sniper training thanks to this guy our father hired when we turned 16, Z is the one who made it her thing.

“Then let’s roll out.”

The entire drive I am riddled with anxiety, teetering between believing this could be true and knowing it is not.
